Johnny Morris is a self-made billionaire with an estimated net worth of $4.4 billion. He's the founder of Bass Pro Shops megastores. He also has a love for caves and discovered several himself. One of them on the property of the golf course. After heavy rain a sinkhole 40 feet deep and 70 feet wide opened along the golf course. Someone reported a torrent of water pouring through a cave that was  discovered before the sinkhole appeared. And that's when Johnny Morris started to look further, following his passion for caves.

So I knew there was a connection," Morris said. "And that's when we started to dig.

The dig uncovered tall limestone formations that Morris believes are further clues of caverns. Every day, one backhoe at the bottom of what is now a 100-foot-deep hole painstakingly moves dirt to a ledge, where a second backhoe removes it one scoop at a time.

Cave Systems Worldwide

There may be a cave system beneath the golf course, but it's not yet known what the dimensions are. There are cave systems worldwide and new systems are being discovered or better say: old cave systems are being discovered in present time.
In 2013 there were reports of a large underground tunnel system that was discovered by archaeologists.

Archaeologists uncovered thousands of Stone Age underground tunnels, stretching across Europe from Scotland to Turkey, perplexing researchers as to their original purpose.

The cave system discovered by Johnny Morris underneath his golf course may be a natural made. But they're still exploring the area and perhaps they'll discover more caves. On the map of Missouri Ozarks you can see the Salem Plateau, which is interesting.  Are they going to find more natural caves or a man made tunnel system going into large dimensions?
